A quick reference guide for rehabilitation workers and other professionals, to the audio services available and the equipment required to use them.

The cassette is in decline and we do not know how long it will be available. This guide is intended to help you understand the new playback systems and assist your clients to do so.

On other pages you will find brief details of the main national providers of audio reading services for blind, partially sighted and print disabled people, a guide to how to listen and a quick reference table. The equipment information is also relevant to using commercial audio books and public libraries.

This has been put together as a co-operative venture by the organisations mentioned.

It covers the formats currently in widespread use, and will be revised as new alternatives become generally available. For up-to-date information, please visit the Reading Through Audio website, www.readingthroughaudio.org.uk or ask any of the providers.
